(opens in a new tab)\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/thepihut.com\/collections\/raspberry-pi\" target=\"_blank\">Go shopping at the Pi Hut.<\/a><\/li><li>An LED, a 220 Ohm Resistor, a Button and some DuPont Connecting Cables<\/li><li><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">You&#8217;ll need a SSH Client like PUTtY &#8211; <\/span><a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" style=\"font-size: 1rem;\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.putty.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get it here<\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">.<\/span><\/li><li>To make things easier, you can;<ul><li>Setup a Samba Share, create a folder in your home directory called &#8220;<strong><em>share<\/em><\/strong>&#8221; and share that &#8211; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.raspberrypi.org\/magpi\/samba-file-server\/\" target=\"_blank\">Here&#8217;s a link to a good guide.<\/a><\/li><li>Use a Code Editor on your machine to edit your files &#8211; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/code.visualstudio.com?WT.mc_id=IoT-MVP-5003506\" target=\"_blank\">Use Visual Studio Code<\/a>!<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll be using a <a href=\"https:\/\/thepihut.com\/collections\/raspberry-pi\/products\/raspberry-pi-4-model-b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Raspberry Pi 4B<\/a>&#8230; It&#8217;s important to note that .NET 6 will only work on an AMR32v7 processor or above&#8230; So that&#8217;s a Raspberry Pi 2 and upwards&#8230; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, there are possibly some issues running .NET on Older Pi&#8217;s, so for now, I&#8217;d recommend the Pi3B+ and above!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately this rules out the original Pi Zero and Pi Zero W as they have V6 processors. But the <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.pimoroni.com\/products\/raspberry-pi-zero-2-w\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pi Zero 2W<\/a> will work just fine!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Installation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly, there&#8217;s still no <strong><em>apt-get install<\/em><\/strong> for .NET 6 on 32bit OS&#8217;s, so to install and use Microsoft Dot NET 6 with the Raspberry Pi would normally involve quite a few manual steps&#8230; However, I&#8217;ve created a single line install script to make the whole process a breeze!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On your Pi, just run the following command;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>wget -O - https:\/\/raw.githubusercontent.com\/pjgpetecodes\/dotnet6pi\/master\/install.sh | sudo bash<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image has-lightbox\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.petecodes.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Install-Dot-NET-6-2021.gif\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.petecodes.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/Install-Dot-NET-6-2021.gif\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3531\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Installing .NET 6 with a script<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This runs the install script as root, so obviously take your own precautions here&#8230;. This is because we&#8217;ve made changes to the .bashrc file. Specifically, we&#8217;ve added an environment variable to the .basrc file that tells the system where to find the .NET runtime. This variable won&#8217;t be loaded until after we restart our session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you don&#8217;t reboot, when you try to run your application for the first time, you may receive the following warning;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>A fatal error occurred.
