<\/a>.NET 8 is the continued cross platform development framework from Microsoft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
What you’ll need<\/h2>\n\n\n\n\n- A recent Raspberry Pi – Go shopping at the Pi Hut.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- An LED, a 220 Ohm Resistor, a Button and some DuPont Connecting Cables<\/li>\n\n\n\n
- You’ll need a SSH Client like PUTtY – <\/span>Get it here<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- To make things easier, you can;\n
\n- Setup a Samba Share, create a folder in your home directory called “share<\/em><\/strong>” and share that – Here’s a link to a good guide.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n
- Use a Code Editor on your machine to edit your files – Use Visual Studio Code<\/a>!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
I’ll be using a Raspberry Pi 5B<\/a>… It’s important to note that .NET 8 will only work on an AMR32v7 processor or above… So that’s a Raspberry Pi 2 and upwards… <\/p>\n\n\n\nHowever, there are possibly some issues running .NET on Older Pi’s, so for now, I’d recommend the Pi3B+ and above!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Unfortunately this rules out the original Pi Zero and Pi Zero W as they have V6 processors. But the Pi Zero 2W<\/a> will work just fine!<\/p>\n\n\n\nInstallation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Sadly, there’s still no apt install<\/em><\/strong> for .NET 8 on 32bit OS’s, so to install and use Microsoft Dot NET 8 with the Raspberry Pi would normally involve quite a few manual steps… However, I’ve created a single line install script to make the whole process a breeze!<\/p>\n\n\n\nOn your Pi, just run the following command;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
wget -O - https:\/\/raw.githubusercontent.com\/pjgpetecodes\/dotnet8pi\/main\/install.sh | sudo bash<\/code><\/pre><\/div>\n\n\n\n![\"\"\/](\"https:\/\/www.petecodes.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/DotNET8Install.gif\")
